dog friendly walks in YORK

Selby is a market town that sits on the River Ouse, approximately 12 miles from the city of York. Although it's relatively small compared to its neighbours of York and Leeds, there are some excellent dog walks and plenty of options for cafes if you fancy lunch with your furry friend.

Time: Approx 45 minutes

Start Point: Parking available at Knavesmire Road, York, YO23 1EX

This flat and open dog walk is a great option for a walk close to the city centre but with a more countryside feel. Dogs are also allowed off lead throughout if they're well behaved and controlled.

Time: Approx 70 minutes

Start Point: Common Lane, York, YO42 4DB

Allerthorpe Woods circular is a gentle route that is suitable for most fitness abilities. The riverside walk in York is a gentle, accessible walk that takes in the variety of the city centre. You can choose when and where to get off the walk and there;s plenty of dog friendly pubs to stop by on the way. The walk is also pram friendly.

Distance: 7km 

Time: Approx 90 minutes

The Fulford circular is an easy countryside route that weaves throughout Fulford nature reserve. Be careful of some parts of the route which take you on the road.

yearsley woods

Distance: 6.5km

Time: Approx 110 minutes

Yearsley Woods offers a variety of different routes but the main one takes you from the car park, around the perimeter of the woods, across a lake and back again. Dogs can be off lead too!
